Richard A. Castellano

Mr. Castellano is a registered U.S. patent attorney, and a lead trial attorney. He is routinely retained by major technology corporations, universities and start-ups to handle difficult disputes, build high value patent portfolios, and provide cost-effective opinion counseling.  He actively handles cases throughout the federal system, including federal district courts across the U.S., the Federal Circuit, the Federal Court of Claims, the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office Patent Trial and Appeal Board, and the U.S. International Trade Commission, where he began his career as a law clerk.  His cases have resulted published judicial opinions, including multiple precedential Federal Circuit opinions. 

He is an expert in patent preparation and prosecution, and commercial litigation and trial practice. He combines his expertise and commitment to superb client service to deliver clear, timely, cost-effective results.  Mr. Castellano's practice includes patent drafting, prosecution, and opinion counseling.  He has prosecuted thousands of patent applications across the full range of technological arts. He frequently represents clients on both sides of the aisle in Post-Grant Review and Inter Partes Review proceedings, and regularly appears before the PTAB, and in associated appeals to the Federal Circuit. Clients further benefit from effective opinion counseling based on his combined extensive experience in patent prosecution and litigation.

 

He has a BS in Chemistry and a JD from Franklin Pierce Law Center in Concord, New Hampshire where he was a IDEA: The Intellectual Property Law Review and student trial attorney for the Supreme Court of New Hampshire.  Mr. Castellano has an LL.M. in Intellectual Property, Commerce, and Technology from Franklin Pierce Law Center during which he participated in the China Intellectual Property Summer Institute, studying abroad in Beijing and Xi'an China at Tsinghua University School of Law.  Mr. Castellano continued to travel and meet  works with foreign clients and law firms in China and around the worl
